El Rocío
Der bekannteste und größte Nationalpark Spaniens ist der Parque Nacional de Doñana, südwestlich von Sevilla. Sein touristisches Zentrum ist der Ort El Rocío, der zu Pfingsten Schauplatz einer gigantischen Wallfahrt ist. Zu Weihnachten erleben wir ihn ruhiger. Das Wahrzeichen des Ortes ist die weiße Wallfahrtskirche, die sich in einer der Lagunen des Nationalparks spiegelt. Auch hier hat es offenbar reichlich geregnet, denn die Lagunen am Ortsrand haben einen hohen Wasserstand. Die sind nicht nur landschaftlich reizvoll, hier sind auch viele Vögel zu beobachten. Die schneeweißen Löffler haben sich weit zurück gezogen. Blässhühner „bespielen“ den Vordergrund. Hinzu kommen diverse, auch kleinere Vögel. Und schließlich überfliegt uns ein Schwarm Glanz-Ibisse.
The most famous and largest national park in Spain is the Parque Nacional de Doñana, southwest of Seville. Its tourist centre is the village of El Rocío, which is the scene of a huge pilgrimage at Whitsun. At Christmas, we find it quieter. The village’s landmark is the white pilgrimage church, which is reflected in one of the lagoons of the national park. It has obviously rained heavily here too, as the lagoons on the outskirts of the village have a high water level. Not only are they scenic, but there are also many birds to observe here. The snow-white spoonbills have retreated far back. Coots ‘play’ in the foreground. There are also various smaller birds. And finally, a flock of glossy ibises flies over us.
